Bernd Mützelburg is a German diplomat. From 2006 to 2009, he served as German Ambassador to India.

Prior to his stint in New Delhi, Bernd  Mützelburg served as German Ambassador to Kenia and Estonia. He also held several senior positions in the German Federal Foreign Office. He was Deputy Head of Private Office of Foreign Minister Hans-Dietrich Genscher during the years of Germany`s reunification, served as the Foreign and Security Policy Advisor to Chancellor Gerhard Schröder and headed the Foreign and Security Policy Department. Following his ambassadorial duties in New Delhi, the German Minster for Foreign Affairs Franz-Walter Steinmeier appointed Bernd Mützelburg as the special representative of the German Foreign Office to Afghanistan and Pakistan.

Bernd Mützelburg  was awarded the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany, the Marjamaa Cross from Estonia, and the Chevalier de la Légion d´honneur from France.
